bareMinerals Complexion Rescue – Worth the Hype?

Hello! Today I thought I’d write about a product that over the last few months I have been loving a lot, and will most likely continue using until I find anything better. bareMinerals Complexion Rescue is what I have been looking for, a lightweight base that looks like skin, whilst also adding a healthy hydrated glow that I have become accustomed to.

On the bareMinerals website, they say that it is ”a moisturiser, foundation and SPF, all in one”, which I wholeheartedly agree with. It is deemed to be a ‘hydrating gel cream’ that gives a sheer-to-medium coverage, depending on how much you choose to build it up. The rating given on the website is 4.6/5 stars, an extremely good rating to have for a product that is obviously loved by many.

What I love about this is that it is 1) has light coverage, cause my dry skin sure won’t accept anything heavier, 2) gives a subtle glow to my skin that I can enhance if I want to, and 3) blends out nicely and can be built up to add a bit more coverage. Even though my skin goes through phases of being clear and then not I still prefer products that are less intense, as I prefer the ‘natural look’ personally. Despite my preferences there is nothing wrong with loving full coverage either, I’m sure if my skin was still oily like it was when I was younger I’d love more full coverage products!

My favourite way to apply it is with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, which I blend in after applying dots across my face first. Stupidly when I first bought it I shade matched myself wrongly, but alas I have been determined to use it and so have either been mixing it with a moisturiser or with a lighter foundation.

Recently I have found that it goes on best after applying an oil as my base, as this ensures my face is nicely hydrated, and gives a dewy look to my skin. My oil of choice lately has been the Antipodes Avocado and Rosehip Face Oil, however I am sure any oil will do the trick! Sometimes after I’ve applied it the finish will be more of a ‘natural dew’, and other times it leaves me extremely dewy, no idea why there is a difference but somehow there is! If I find that it is too much dew I will use any old powder I have to lightly set it, without leaving it completely matte.

If you are someone who has normal or dry skin and love a naturally dewy finish, I would say go for it, but if you have oily or combination skin maybe stay away from it, unless you are happy to powder it.

I hope you found this review useful, and I hope to see you again soon!

As always,
