Hey! I thought today I’d share with you the makeup that I’ve found to work the best for me recently, and why they are current favourites. For the majority of my ‘makeup journey’ I have not really found anything that has truly wowed me as much as it could have done, but I’ve come to realise that some products I’ve bought in recent months have worked well every time I’ve used them, and I’ve only realised now!
A new product that I have bought recently is the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter, which is just lovely. The texture of it is different to what you’d expect, it’s not a liquid but its not like a concealer, it is like a primer, except it’s sooo much more than that! The glow that this gives is phenomenal, I personally love it, and it sits well on my skin which is a bonus as my skin is quite temperamental.
To work with the Flawless Filter I have been using the UD Naked Skin Foundation. I make it work by blending the two together instead of using them separately, and it just does wonders, as nothing seems to look good on my skin, it just hates anything other than skincare and nothing truly ever blends in, BUT these two at least look as natural as I can get! Now that I have found a way to use the foundation I think that at the end of the year I will purchase another one but in a colour that suits my undertone better.
I have never tried a colour corrector before, although I most definitely need one for the rest of my face cause the redness is REAL! However I have recently started using the BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector underneath my concealer, and I do think that it makes a difference and brightens up my eyes, so much so that I have tried using it over the redness around my nose, and it has helped a little bit! I wouldn’t say this is an essential, but I think that if you do have bad underage circles then you should give it a try. I got mine as a small size when I bought it as part of a mini’s set, which is what I would suggest you do if you want to give it a go.
A bronzer which I have found to be perfect for me is the UD Beached Bronzer in Sun Kissed, which is a warm brown that isn’t too dark, and provides me with just enough warmth to give me a healthy- SUN KISSED- glow! This shade would be more suitable for fair to light skin tones, whereas the other shade Bronzed would be better for medium and deeper skin tones. The powder glides on smoothly and is extremely buildable, which I have found to be difficult with some other bronzers I have tried. I would highly recommend this to you if you have a similar skin tone to me and love a bronzed glow!
A product that I have purchased many times is the NYX Micro Brow Pencil, which is easy to use and gives just enough pigment to create a filled in yet natural looking brow. I don’t know about you but I find it really hard to find the perfect colour for my brows, as they aren’t blonde, and they aren’t brown, they’re like an ashy dark blonde that I can never find the perfect shade for them. Even the shade of this, Taupe, comes off extremely warm and brown on my skin, so it’s not the best for me in terms of colour, but the way that it works is good enough! I will say though that this does run out quite quickly if you’re using it a lot in one go, and so it’s not necessarily the best in terms of what you pay for. But if you’re looking for a cheaper option then it’s a perfectly good brow pencil!
Makeup Geek eyeshadows are lovely. The mattes blend so well on my eyes and the colour selection is fantastic, and for less than £5 per shadow I am super happy with them! I still need a few more to complete my own personal palette but I can definitely say that the ones I own so far are brilliant, and I would highly recommend them to anyone! Here I have chosen just a few that I think are great shadows, and are also some that I use more than others:
Petal Pusher– A soft pink colour that makes for a great transition shade
Vintage– A deep burgundy colour that is great for intensifying looks
Hipster– A neutral brown colour with flecks of glitter that works as an all over shade
Desert Sands– A yellow toned brown that is good for deepening the crease
So these are my current makeup favourites. Tell me what your current favourites are, and if you share any the same as mine!
Love, Emily x
