If You Try One Thing: Umberto Giannini Grow Scalp Scrub

If you’ve ever wanted soft, cleaner-than-clean hair, this may be the answer to your prayers. I tried this scalp scrub on a whim, after seeing it pop up on online whilst searching for haircare, and then finally deciding to purchase it after a trip into Boots. I am so glad that I bought it, and I think that you probably should too!

This is the Umberto Giannini ‘Grow Scrub’ Scalp Scrub, both vegan and cruelty-free, it claims to help hair grow longer and stronger. Now I can’t comment on the growing part, as naturally my hair grows quite quickly, and to be honest I’m not too fussed about it being longer anyway. What I was really hoping for from this scrub was a nice scalp and hair that actually looked clean – I can definitely say I love this scrub and it does exactly what I need it to do.

It may claim to be a scrub, but it is so much more than that, and not even that much of a scrub to begin with! As you can see there are small pieces of seal salt encompassed within the product, but these are so gentle and you can barely even notice them, which I think is great for those with sensitive skin, and for those who just want to give their scalp a quick scrub every now and again. Within the scrub there claims to be:

  • Caffeine to stimulate circulation
  • Pea Sprout Extract to accelerate hair growth
  • Wheat Protein to sooth the scalp
  • Seaweed to add marine nutrients for hair health
  • Algae to heal and moisturise
  • Irish Moss to smooth and soften hair
  • Coconut Oil and Shea Butter to nourish and moisturise
  • Sea Salt Granules to gently exfoliate and detox the scalp

So it’s definitely packed full of good stuff, and again whilst I can’t necessarily attest to each individual ingredient, I do know that it leaves my hair feeling softer and my scalp exfoliated. Considering that it’s a scalp scrub, it lathers up extremely well, and is basically a shampoo at the same time, meaning you only need to follow with conditioner each time you use this. Recommend use is once a week, which I think is appropriate if you only wash every other day or similar, since it really does give a deep clean.

It retails on the Boots website for £9, which seems like a lot, but currently they have a 3 for 2 offer on that occurs quite frequently. For the amount that you need to use you are actually getting a lot of product too, so the cost is definitely worth it. If you’ve tried this before let me know, alternatively if you try it after this post also let me know!

As always,

Love, Emily x
