Brands I Wish Were Cruelty-Free

One day in the future I am hopeful that mandatory animal testing will be stopped, allowing many beauty brands to gain a cruelty-free status. However, this may not happen anytime soon, and it won’t stop those who pay to have their products tested on animals – I would avoid them at all costs. I thought I would do a round-up of the brands that I wish were cruelty-free, so that I could try their products out due to hearing good things about them.

Nars

I’ve wanted to buy something from Nars for so long, but by the time I had enough money to purchase from them they had decided to start selling in china – which left me extremely disappointed. As a cult favourite brands with so many beautiful looking products, this one hit me hard, especially since they were cruelty-free until a few years ago. I really think that they made the wrong choice, and as such will never have me as a customer until they either pull out of the Chinese market, or mandatory testing no longer exists – both of which I don’t see happening soon. 

What I really wanted to try: Sheer Glow Foundation, Audacious Lipstick + LE Mini Eyeshadow Palettes

Nudestix

I know that some people say Nudestix is cruelty-free, but according to Cruelty-Free Kitty they are in the grey area, meaning they have not provided enough information to be confirmed as cruelty-free. As such, I do not perceive them as being cruelty-free, especially since a couple of years ago there was an issue with them supposedly bypassing testing laws to sell in China – I’m not sure what happened since. However, I love the whole brand aesthetic, and many of their products are loved by influencers that I follow, so I trust their judgement. I am also into that subtle, glowing from within look, and their products seem like they would be perfect for me.

What I really wanted to try: Nudies All Over Face Colour Glow, Nudies Matte Blush & Bronze

Bobbi-Brown

Not a brand that many people talk about anymore, Bobbi-Brown seems to be a long-standing favourite, mostly known for their highlighting blocks back in the day. Again, at the time I wanted to buy something from them, and wasn’t solely buying cruelty-free, I had no money to be spending on a high-end brand. It still remains a brand that I’d be interested to try out, especially since I’m sure their products are still good quality even though the hype has died down.

What I really wanted to try: Under-eye Corrector, Highlighting Powders

Fresh

Loved by many currently, Fresh is raved about for their beautiful and aesthetically pleasing packaging, along with their great quality formulas. I agree with everyone that Fresh entices me, but I won’t give up on my morals no matter how much their products may tempt me! Along with the steeper price tag, Fresh unfortunately isn’t cruelty-free despite their whole vibe of being *fresh* – whilst their website claims that they are indeed cruelty-free, brands can’t always be trusted to provide the whole picture. If they become cruelty-free in the future I will definitely snap them up.

What I really wanted to try: Soy Face Cleanser, Hydrating Lip Balm, Rose Deep Hydration Toner
